I am starting this blog more or less for accountability and for a place to track the stuff we do as a family. By “stuff” I mean what we eat, how we exercise and how we grow together as a healthy and happy family. And by “we”, I mean myself (Cheryl), my husband (Athen), my daughter (Erica) and my son (Avery). We are totally average. We live on a budget. My husband and I both work full time. We deal with all the normal things in live. Only difference is that we are limited nowadays when it comes to eating.
See, about a year ago I was diagnosed with non-Celiac gluten intolerance and a dairy allergy. My dairy issues are not digestive as with lactose intolerance. Nope. I have major sinus problems when I eat dairy. This includes goats cheese. To date we have not tried raw milk products. My husband, on the other hand, is lactose intolerant. I also have a strong sensitivity to processed tomato products and corn products. I have not cut these two out of our diets at this point. I did for a few months last year and it was really tough. I plan to try again soon. And then to top it all off, my son has a peanut and tree nut allergy. It gives him hives and makes it harder for him to breathe, but does not constrict his airway. My husband and son have asthma. I have PCOS, among other things lol. That is a whole separate section worth of info HAHA! And well, my daughter seems to be ok, except that she is gaining weight faster than she probably should despite the fact that she eats pretty well and is very active.
All this being said, we as a family are now officially going gluten and dairy free. We are also working on being more active. We have a family membership at the local YMCA and we use it. 🙂 I intend to use this blog site to keep track of how we are doing.
